I think you're right about the similarity between english and chinese ancient language when it comes to verses or poems. I sometimes feel modern chinese is less powerful in expression, less neat and tend to be prolix ( I3 X8 }5 z) j* i, _* I, J) r" l$ S" |: D/ l) `
